The Hague is not only the political capital of the Netherlands, but also a city rich in culture and history, with an impressive collection of museums. Whether you are an art lover, interested in history, or looking for something unique, The Hague has something for everyone.

The story begins, of course, at the Mauritshuis, one of the city’s most famous museums, where you can admire masterpieces from the Golden Age, such as Vermeer’s iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp. Housed in a beautiful 17th-century building, this museum offers a peaceful and intimate experience for art lovers.

The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is one of the most important museums for modern art in the Netherlands. It is housed in a beautiful building designed by the famous architect H.P. Berlage, which is a work of art in itself. The museum is not only known for its impressive architecture, but also for its rich collection, with a strong focus on 20th-century art. Another must-see is

Escher in Het Paleis, where you can lose yourself in the enchanting, impossible worlds of the famous artist M.C. Escher. The museum, located in a stately palace, literally lets you experience the play of perspectives and paradoxes.

In the heart of The Hague, next to the Binnenhof, stands the impressive Rijksmuseum de Gevangenpoort. This historic building, once the main gate of the castle of the Counts of Holland, served as a prison and courthouse for the Court of Holland from the 15th century onwards. For four centuries, suspects were imprisoned here in the so-called ‘gajolen’ (cells) awaiting trial.
