The Red Bull Knock Out in Scheveningen is an epic beach race known as the toughest beach race in the world — and that’s not just a claim.
What makes it unique?
A mass start of up to 1,000 riders, amateurs and world-class professionals alike, battling their way across 4 to 5 km of sand with more than eighty obstacles: jumps, deep craters, sand mountains and tree trunks.
In the final, an extra “X-loop” is added, aka “The Mine Field”: a 400-meter hell that riders have to struggle through — with mud, sand, and unexpected obstacles.
Some highlights from the past
In 2015, upon its return after years of silence, 1,500 motorcycles appeared at the start — spectacular!
In 2016, the event attracted over 70,000 visitors; the winner was MXGP champion Jeffrey Herlings.
In 2018, Britain’s Nathan Watson won after a chaotic final in which Glenn Coldenhoff briefly took the lead but got stuck in the X-loop.
Why Scheveningen?
The event takes place between the Noorderhavenhoofd and the pier, with free admission along the boulevard — a day full of action in an iconic setting.
Normally, Scheveningen is a relaxing mix of beach, culture, and boulevard — during the Knock Out, it transforms into a battlefield where man and machine push themselves to the limit.
So if you’re ever in Scheveningen in November, don’t miss the Red Bull Knock Out: a unique, intense spectacle where the sea, the sand, and 1,000 roaring engines come together in
